Frederick Kelly wrote his Violin Sonata while serving at Gallipoli during the initial stages of World War 1. It was written for Jelly d'Aryani and publically premiered by her after Kelly's death in 1916. Following the premiere, the piece disappeared for over 80 years until it was rediscovered in Italy in 2010 amongst the remains of Jelly's estate. It is a remarkable piece with an incredible history.
