The Threnody and Scherzo is one of the least known works written by Arnold Bax. It was performed only once during his lifetime and then disappeared for over 70 years. This is the first time a corrected and printed edition has been published of what is a substantial and attractive work for a highly original combination of instruments, bassoon, harp and string sextet.
